The TMMA Discussion List provides a forum for Town Meeting Members to discuss issues of Lexington government, Town Meeting, and topics that are under municipal-level control. Posts must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy.
Posting privileges are limited to Town Meeting Members and certain other official members of Town government. Members can post, read, and reply to messages via email or on the platform's website.
The list is hosted on a publicly viewable online platform and the public may read all posts in real time.
The TMMA was established in 1978 to facilitate the work of Town Meeting. The TMMA provides its members with access to a wide range of facts and information needed to make important decisions at Town Meeting. The TMMA also assists the Town in the practical matters of running Town Meeting itself.
The TMMA is a private volunteer organization that operates under its own bylaws. It is not an official Town body.
All duly elected or appointed and currently serving Lexington Town Meeting Members, as certified by the Lexington Town Clerk, are members of the TMMA. Lexington is divided into nine precincts and 21 Town Meeting Members are elected as representatives of residents in each precinct (189 elected members). In addition, there are up to 12 At-Large members comprising certain State and Town Officials who are members of Town Meeting if they reside in Lexington.
