Information about the Open Meetings Laws

The Open Meetings Laws, Mgl 39-23b , apply to all the meetings of Town Boards, Committees and Commissions and restrict the use of private communications and executive sessions to conduct Town business without public scrutiny. (Town Meeting members are specifically exempt, unless they are also on one of the committees, boards, commissions etc.)

A helpful interpretation of the law is The League of Women Voter’s Guide to Open Meetings .
