Voter Information
Registration: You may register to vote by mail or in person at the Town Clerk's Office, which is on the first floor of the Lexington Town Office building, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA 02420.(Handicap access, with elevator to the first floor, and HP parking is at the rear of the building on the lower level. Use the driveway beyond the Police Station.) Mail registration forms are available at all Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles offices. Registration closes 20 days before any election.
Where to Vote: There are nine precincts in Lexington, which vote in different locations. To find the precinct in which you vote and the location of the polling place go to the State of Massachusetts' web page and enter your home address.
The warrant, which is a document mailed to each registered voter by the Town Clerk just before each election, contains the location of the polling places for each precinct, as well as a summary of all the items on the ballot. Some polling places (Precinct 1 and 5) will be moved from their usual locations this year to Cary Hall due to the construction at the Fiske School site.
Citizens who wished to place items on the warrant for consideration by the annual Town Meeting must have submited the petitions by a date in December of the previous year. See the Town Web site calendar. Petitions for future elections are available at the Town Clerk's office and require 10 signatures of registered voters of Lexington to be valid. The procedure for preparing the petition before gathering signatures, and for facilitating the presentation to Town Meeting is available as a pdf via this link. The Town Meeting Members Association has volunteers available to help with the process. Contact the TMMA Chair or e-mail webmaster@lexingtontmma.org with your request for assistance.
Absentee ballots are available from the Town Clerks office by mail and residents who will be out of town on election day may also obtain and vote them in person at the Town Clerk's office. Ballots must be mailed back in time to arrive on or before the election date.
